بحر الوافر
وَدَعجاءِ المَحاجِرِ مِن مَعَدٍّ … كَأَنَّ حَديثَها ثَمرُ الجِنانِ
A fair-eyed Lady from Ma’ad; as though Her speech were the fruits of paradisal groves…
إِذا قامَت لِمَشيَتِها تَثَنَّت … كَأَنَّ عِظامَها مِن خَيزُرانِ
When She stands to walk, She would sway, as though Her bones were made of bamboo stalks…
يُنَسّيكَ المُنى نَظَرٌ إِلَيها … وَيَصرِفُ وَجهُها وَجهَ الزَمانِ
Gazing at Her will make you forget all other desires; Her face turns away the face of time… 1

- Her face, “turning away the face of time,” is a beautiful metaphor for Her youth and fairness, which seems to never age! ↩︎
